BLOOM

Grow, Nurture, Heal

Bloom is a program with the goal of Building LGBTQ+ Affirming Organizations and Opening Minds. Part of Bloom falls under the training program; however, the specific focus with Bloom is on LGBTQ+ cultural competence training with school personnel/counselors and other adolescent mental health providers in Spartanburg, Greenville and Anderson counties. On the clinical side of things, BLOOM provides free group, individual, and family therapy to LGBTQ+ youth and their families.

LEAP

A program designed to bring peer support to the trans community. Transitioning of any kind brings excitement as well as lots of questions surrounding the process. Access to Peer Support Services reduces mental health symptoms, increases resilience and links folks to services they otherwise may not know about. LEAP is no-cost and fully funded by grants and donations.

LEAP SUPPORT GROUP:

Tuesday (LGBTQ+ Support) 6-7pm

AFFIRM SC

Educate, Equip, Affirm

We believe in supporting and nurturing safe spaces for professionals within and outside the health and human services field to learn and grow in their understanding of cultural competency, diversity, and inclusivity. Funding donated to support raising up organizations that see and meet the needs of the LGBTQ+ community will be utilized to provide these trainings at no cost to non-profit organizations, schools, churches, and companies that cannot otherwise afford but desire change.

To date, AFFIRM SC has trained close to two thousand individuals and dozens of companies.

SCHOLARSHIPS

We imagine a world where finances are not an obstacle to life saving interventions. Donating to QWC provides this dream to become a reality. Specific funds are secured for scholarships to provide financial aid to cover partial or full cost of medical visits for hormones, prescriptions, therapy, temporary housing and medical procedures.

PROJECT HEART

Low Cost, Affirmative, Quality Medical Care

Project HEART is the newest QWC program which exists to bring affirming medical healthcare to the queer community in the Upstate of SC. As part of this multi-year initiative, QWC is working in collaboration with our partnering community healthcare providers to begin offering low-cost medical services provided by a rotation of culturally competent nurses, physicians and psychiatrists. As we strive to reduce barriers to affirmative healthcare, Project HEART will ensure that all members of the LGBTQ+ community will have easy access to quality medical care delivered in the safe and affirming environment of the Queer Wellness Center.

We also have curated a list known as the Affirmative Provider Network that takes the guess work out for you to know you’re with someone safe.
