Helping You Find Your Voice

About Us

Queer Wellness Center exists so you don’t fall through the cracks.

Navigating care is almost always overwhelming, exhausting, and feels impossible. Whether it’s finding a care provider, dealing with insurance, or even finding someone who actually listens, there are so many steps along the path to care that end in roadblocks, and giving up on finding care sometimes feels like the only solution. Add to that the vast disparity in access to care for the LGBTQ+ community, the difficulty in finding affirming practitioners, and the likelihood of discrimination or neglect, and many of us are left wondering, who do I even ask for help?

Queer Wellness Center was founded in 2021 to answer that very question. We exist to break down barriers to medical and mental healthcare, self-determination, self-actualization, and social belonging for queer people in the upstate of South Carolina. We bridge the gap to affirming care providers and essential resource services to ensure the queer community has direct access to lifesaving care. We also therapeutic programs focusing on peer support and group belonging.

In October of 2026, we opened our new home in Greenville. This dedicated center for the queer people of our community allows us to not only focus on what we do best, but continue to grow and answer more needs within our community.

Life is hard. Getting whole-person care doesn’t have to be.

What We Do:

  • One-on-One Peer Support. Need help finding a therapist? Need help changing your name? Don’t know how to come out at work? Our certified peer support specialists are here to help.

  • Peer Support Groups. LEAP and Bloom provide community, connection, and a safe space to navigate life’s challenges and big wins with people who understand what you’re going through.

  • QWC x Prisma. Through our partnership with Prisma Health, we provide the LGBTQ+ community psychiatry services, gender affirming care, testing, PrEP, and more.

  • Resource Closet. We have a free resource closet stocked with shelf stable food, personal care items, contraceptives, and gender affirming underclothes. Donations always welcome. (Resources limited while we settle into our new space)

  • QWC x GT. Through our partnership with Greenville Together, we are able to directly refer members of our community for Shelter-to-Home housing placement and stabilization. Not worrying about where you will spend the night is a basic necessity to health and healing.

  • Education. Through our Affirm program, we offer education on behalf of the queer community so that businesses, organizations, and faith groups can better serve their LGBTQ+ neighbors.

  • Answering Direct Needs. Do you know of a need for care in the queer community? Is there a service that is difficult for our community to access? Let us know!
